ELECTRO-HYDRAULIC STEERING SYSTEMS
Opem Sistemi manufactures steering systems from 300 tup o 20,000 daNm in compliance with the regulations of the main Classification Societies.
Essentially, they consist of control system (follow-up/non-follow-up/autopilot/emergency), actuating components (control units, valves, cylinders) and mechanical elements (tiller, joints, rudder carriers).
They can be supplied with a tie rod or with electronically synchronized rudders. They can also be connected to the various integrated bridge systems available on the market.

The electro-hydraulic assisted steering systems allow the rudders to be operated by means of two hydraulic actuator cylinders, connected to the tillers.
Under normal conditions, the rudders can be controlled from the bridge (with follow-up and non-follow-up modes) or from the wings (with non-follow-up mode).
Control and monitoring of operations are carried out through a touch screen terminal in the navigating bridge connected via network system to an electronic PLC device.
The actuator cylinders are normally operated by an electrohydraulic unit.
A second electro-hydraulic unit with stand-by function can also be provided.
Emergency hydraulic steering through a hand pump is also provided. The connection between the actuator cylinder, power unit and the manual emergency pump is provided through independent and sectional hydraulic lines.
